Access to Justice

Bihar Gram Vikas Parishad has partnered with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, US, for the project Access to Justice. This project aims to prevent and eliminate child marriage, child sexual abuse, and trafficking for labour and sexual exploitation through supporting government machinery and seeking community engagement.

The project involves awareness generation in all the 50 villages through street plays and puppet shows for elimination of child labour, child marriage, child sexual abuse and child trafficking. For this, influential people and groups like anganwadi workers, mothers’ committees, adolescents’ groups, jeevika group members, male and female schoolteachers and students are involved.

June and November were observed as action month for child labour free Sheohar. During these months 14 child labourers were rescued from various shops. Child marriage free India campaign was culminated in events at several places on 16 October 2024.

Out of school children were identified and re-admitted to the schools. Undertakings were taken from parents for not marrying their daughters before 18 years and sons before 21 years of age. All the mukhiyas and sarpanches have taken pledge and signed the same for making their respective panchayats child marriage free.

Child Protection Committees have been formed at the district, block, panchayat and ward levels and their capacity building done. Wall writing has been done and hoardings placed at important places like schools, panchayat bhawans, water tanks, temples and mosques to deliver messages regarding child marriage free India.
